Rolco International has developed a new accumulator design to reliably
accommodate rows of wrapped or unwrapped bars or cookies. This capability allows manufacturers of bars and cookies to decrease waste and increase profitability with less manpower required. Rows that
require accumulation are loaded onto a stainless steel product carrier by a servo driven noser conveyor that is synchronized with the servo drive which moves the product carrier. The product carrier design is
unique in that the floor pivots down after the rows of bars or cookies have been loaded onto it. This design ensures that the rows do not become dislodged while being transported between the infeed station
and the discharge station. At the discharge point, the product carrier is traveling horizontally, the floor of the product carrier is actuated up and
the rows of bars or cookies are swept off the product carrier by a stationary wiper bar. The rows of bars or cookies are transported onto the infeed conveyor of the last
wrapper and proceed to be wrapped. The Rolco accumulator can be positioned between wrappers or at the end of the production line. Because of its vertical design, very little floor space is required to
provide customers with substantial storage capacity and all production is accumulated first-in, first-out, which maintains the sequence of manufacture.
